The Kitchen

MF Productions has worked with The Kitchen in producing their annual Spring Benefits since 1998. The Kitchen is New York's foremost presenter of performance art. This year's program, held at The Kitchen, honored the singer, composer, and visual artist ANONHI, and the prominent American sculptor, Robert Gober.

In 2018, The Kitchen's annual Spring Benefit was held at The Kitchen, and honored singer Lydia Lunch and photographer Nan Goldin. The program featured performances by James Chance, JG Thirwell and ensemble, and Bush Tetras, and the After-Party included a DJ set by Veronica Vasicka.

In 2017, The Kitchen's annual Spring Benefit was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The event honored musician John Cale and artist Lawrence Weiner. There were special music performances curated by Bryce Dessner of The National, renowned composer Nico Muhly, and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. Kindness and SHYBOI both performed DJ sets at the after party.

In 2016, The Kitchen held their annual Spring Benefit at Cipriani Wall Street for the third consecutive year. The event honored Charles Atlas and Dara Birnbaum with performances by Glenn Branca, Caroline Polachek, and Stanley Love Performance Group. The After Party included DJ sets by Lady Bunny and Venus X.

In 2015, MF Productions worked with The Kitchen again to help produce the Kitchen Spring Benefit at Cipriani Wall Street. The event honored Kim Gordon and Dan Graham and featured special performances by Stephen Malkmus, The Feelies and the Raincoats. The After Party included DJ sets by Jake Meginsky and Bill Nace/Open Mouth Records Crew and was hosted by Sarah Blakey-Cartwright, Lizzi Bougatsos, Nick Mauss, Ken Okiishi, Ellie Rines, and Emily Sundblad.

In 2014, MF Productions helped produce the Kitchen Spring Benefit at Cipriani Wall Street. The event honored Robert Longo and featured performances by Tunde Adebimpe, Bill T. Jones with Vernon Reid and Daniel Bernard Roumain, and Barbara Sukowa. The After Party included DJ sets by Holy Ghost! and Nicolas Jaar.

MF Productions helped produce the 2009 through 2013 Kitchen Spring Gala Benefits held at Capitale. The 2009 event honored Tony Oursler and Willard B. Taylor and included special performances by Laurie Anderson and Sonic Youth. The guests enjoyed the After Party with champagne, desserts, and dancing hosted by The Smile and TAR Magazine with DJs Matt Creed, Gibby Haynes, and Nate Lowman. The 2010 event honored David Byrne and featured performances by Dirty Projectors, Doveman, Nico Muhly, and St. Vincent. The After Party was again hosted by The Smile, along with the Journal, and featured DJ Scott Campbell and a performance by Chief. The 40th Anniversary of the Kitchen was celebrated at the 2011 Gala at Capitale, honoring Philip Glass and featuring performances by the Vijay Iyer Trio, Tim Fain, Nico Muhly, and International Contemporary Ensemble. The After Party, again hosted by The Smile, included a choreographed flash mob and music by DJ JD Samson. The 2012 Gala honored Joan Jonas and Steve Reich and an After Party featuring a DJ set by James Murphy of DFA/LCD Soundsystem.

From 1998 to 2003 MF Productions produced spring benefits for New York's foremost presenter of performance art. The events were held at neighboring nightclub, the Roxy. In the spring of 2003, the annual gala was held at Gotham Hall. At this evening honoring Melissa and Robert Soros, guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and a silent auction featuring the work of Gregory Crewdson, William Wegman, Christopher Wool, and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. Guests were also captivated by special performances by Bill T. Jones, Sussan Deyhim and Ethel. Philip Glass also performed a specially composed piece for the honoree.
